Time: 10:30am-12:30pm

Lesson 1: The Origins of Words – Oracle Bone Script & Seal Script

Designed for students with previous exposure to Chinese art, this lesson explores the origins and evolution of Chinese characters through Oracle Bone Script and Seal Script. Students will analyse the pictorial qualities of ancient scripts while refining brush control, stroke structure and calligraphic technique.

Lesson 2: The Beauty of Flora & The Illusion of Ink Tones

Building on foundational ink skills, students will explore the expressive qualities of Xieyi (freehand) painting through floral subjects. By mastering the ‘Five Ink Tones’ —Thick, Light, Dry, Wet and Charred—they will create nuanced works that capture atmosphere, movement and the spirit of local flora, including Kapok flowers and Lotuses.

Lesson 3: Freedom of Expression – Splash-Ink Art

This advanced session introduces the dynamic world of Splash-Ink painting, encouraging students to balance technical control with artistic spontaneity. Through experimental ink techniques and contemporary approaches to composition, participants will develop a distinctive visual language while deepening their understanding of Chinese water-ink art.
