Four-Panel Comic Workshop

Venue: 10/F, Hong Kong Arts Centre
Date: 2025.03.01 - 2025.04.12
Time: 2:00-3:30pm (Every Saturday)
Price: HK$2,590 (HK$200 Materials Fee is included)

Kids, you have probably read a few comics in your time - now create your own! Learn how to turn simple lines and shapes into expressive characters full of life and personality. Discover how different facial expressions and body movements can show a spectrum of emotions — whether it is a big, toothy grin for happiness or slouched shoulders for sadness. Through engaging and enjoyable activities, kids will gain confidence in drawing their own characters and understanding how to use basic visual techniques to tell riveting wordless stories.

The workshop also highlights the skill of creating personification characters. Kids will explore how to humanise everyday objects or abstract ideas — turning the sun into a cheerful, dancing figure or a raindrop into a sad, shy character. By the end, each child will have crafted a one-of-a-kind comic filled with unique characters and stories that reflect their creativity and newfound skills in visual storytelling.

Students will:

  • Grasp the significance of basic lines, expressions and movements of characters in comics
  • Explore personification
  • Conceptualise four-panel comics using the "introduction, development, twist, and conclusion" structure
  • Learn colouring techniques
  • Complete the comic based on instructor feedback
