Programme Manager (Visual Arts)


Job Duties

  • Manage and deliver the exhibitions and visual arts programmes of the Hong Kong Arts Centre.
  • Lead exhibition administration and management including but not limited to establish and monitor the project budgets and schedule, production management, liaise with artists, curators, stakeholders and internal teams, plan and deliver tours or talks to support the exhibition, open call etc.
  • Prepare proposals to seek grants and sponsorship for major exhibitions and/or projects.
  • Work with other departments for marketing and educational plans for the visual arts programmes.
  • Supervise, manage and train junior staff to implement the above tasks and foster a culture of excellence, communications and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Degree or above holder in arts management or other relevant disciplines with at least 6 years of working experience in arts-related organisations.
  • Excellent execution, organisation and problem-solving skills, and able to work independently
  • Multi-tasking; adaptive to changes and able to work under pressure
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated to strive for excellence. Able to communicate at all levels
  • Good writing and communications skills in both Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) and English.

Lecturer / Subject Coordinator (Sculpture, Part-time 75% time), Hong Kong Art School


Job Duties

  • Teach and assess students at all levels and supervise their project works.
  • Act as subject coordinator in development, design and delivery of modules at various levels. Support curriculum and new course development if needed. Ensure the assessments methods, learning materials and methods of delivery do meet the learning objectives.
  • Support academic head to ensure the effective day-to-day operations in academic areas.
  • Participate in accreditation and quality control processes/review and liaise with accreditation bodies as necessary.
  • Manage and maintain the Sculpture Studio and supervise the duty of Teaching Assistant.
  • Work with programme admin team to ensure efficient and effective running of programmes and modules.
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention activities/events. Play a key role in assisting students to develop and prepare themselves as a next generation artist.
  • Attend HKAS meetings and involve in activities related to teaching and quality assurance.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by superiors.

Requirements

  • A recognized master’s degree in Fine Arts and minimum 6 years of relevant teaching experience.
  • Evidence of knowledge and experience in Fine Art practice and good connections with industry and professional practice is definitely an advantage.
  • Strong and demonstrated record of accomplishment and experience in teaching which includes lesson plan development, assessment, and moderation.
  • Excellent team player with strong communication and presentation skills.

Assistant Registrar, Hong Kong Art School


Job Duties

  • Report to the Registrar, Academic Administration of Hong Kong Art School; and Director of Hong Kong Art School when needed.
  • Oversee the management of all academic administrative services e.g. student admission, enrollment assessment, timetabling, graduation ceremony, quality assurance, accreditation exercise, ordinance application etc.
  • Responsible for managing the School’s governance processes and develop/enhance the School’s policies and regulations to ensure it’s in line with the requirements of the governance bodies. Liaise with corresponding government bureaus or professional bodies where necessary.
  • Work closely with the teaching team and the School partners to ensure that the key student lifecycle processes are delivered consistently and accurately.
  • Ensure a proper collection and maintenance of student records and provide necessary statistical reports when needed.
  • Conduct regular review on workflows, guidelines and procedures and make necessary changes to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Provide secretarial support to School committees.
  • Responsible for the leadership, motivation, support and line management of the staff in the relevant registry areas ensuring that appropriate standards of behaviour, performance and customer care are demonstrated at all times.
  • Monitor the budget control of academic programmes for the School.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor Degree holder from a tertiary institution or equivalent with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Substantial experience in academic administration.
  • Proven track record of leadership and knowledge about university governance.
  • Strong team building and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, influencing and interpersonal skills.

Programme Officer, Cross-disciplinary Arts & Outreach


Job Duties

Working in the Cross-disciplinary Arts and Outreach team, this position is accountable for supporting the programme manager in various administration and operational duties and the key responsibilities include: 

  • Assist and support programme manager in implementing various art projects and programmes.
  • Support in various administration works including preparing agreements, budget management, coordinating with different stakeholders, liaising with artists etc. 
  • Conduct research and develop ideas for the programmes assigned.
  • Generate marketing and promotional content for website and social media. Responsible for website updating and work closely with marketing department for programmes promotion.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, funding applications and reports.
  • Ad hoc tasks as assigned by superiors. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Art, Cultural Studies, Art Education, Humanities or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in art administration, planning and organising arts programmes.
  • Good project management, research, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator or design software will be an advantage.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Possess good understanding of new technologies, including online and on-site digital platforms that facilitate discovery and learning of our programme offerings.
  • Creative, meticulous and with passion in contemporary art & art education.
  • Immediate available is an advantage.

Administrative Officer (Hong Kong Art School)


Job Duties

  • Provide administrative support to the office daily operation, including handling email and phone /walk in enquiries and manage the reception/enrolment counter.
  • Handle complaints and follow up with relevant parties, and compile complaint report.
  • Provide administrative duties to school functions including student admission, student registration and enrolment, tuition fee payment, financial aid, financial reports, and student activities.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for students and school activities.
  • Assist in organization of school functions, events and activities.
  • Provide administrative support in administrative operations, procurement and facility management.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Tertiary education with a minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience, preferably in school services

Technician and Projectionist (Ref: TECH)


Job Duties

  • Provide technical support and set up for theatre operation including audio, lighting, video and projection systems; 35 mm movie film projection;
  • Other technical duties related to stage and theatre.

Requirements

  • HKDSE graduates; capable to speak, write and read Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) and English;
  • Basic knowledge of electronic and related;
  • Interest in stage and theatre technical related job and career; have relevant experience is preferred;
  • Shift duty is required.

Senior Programme Officer/Programme Officer (Visual Arts)


Job Duties

  • Plan and monitor the progress, schedule, quality, and budget of assigned projects.
  • Handle art administration work and prepare periodic reports.
  • Assist in the development and curation of projects.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated, well-organised, detail-oriented, responsible and able to work independently.
  • Proficiency in P.C. operations e.g. MS based applications, Chinese Word Processing.

Programme Director


Job Duties

This position will report directly to the Executive Director of Hong Kong Arts Centre and work closely with the Arts Programming Committee.

  • Work with Executive Director to craft and develop long-term and short-term strategies that are aligned with the direction and mission of HKAC.
  • Lead the entire Programme Department. Plan and develop annual programmes that support the development objectives and growth of HKAC.
  • Ensure intellectual and curatorial rigour across programmes and build synergy across different art forms.
  • Form partnerships and lead funding applications with government departments and commercial entities. Manage the development of high-quality proposals.
  • Manage programme budget and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Lead the planning of the programme portfolio in order to strengthen the image of HKAC. 
  • Contribute to the development of internal and external communication materials to highlight impactful stories.
  • Coordinate research in programme context such as analysis of art trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with different teams to drive the development of the Programme Department.
  • Liaise, network and work with arts practitioners, both local and overseas.
  • Participate in regular committee meetings including the preparation of presentations and take follow-up actions. 
  • Work as part of the senior leadership team to shape and deliver the mission of HKAC and provide visible leadership extending across the wider organization.

Requirements

  • University Degree in related disciplines.
  • Sound and demonstrable knowledge in contemporary art. Experience in curation will be an advantage.
  • Excellent leadership skills and able to lead a team of around 20 staff.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, organisational, planning and project management skills.
  • Professional and tactful manner in communicating with different stakeholders.

  • Provide ushering and front of house service in theatres, assist in house rules and regulations enforcement
  • Perform effective communication with patrons, guests and venue hirers
  • Assist in crowd control to ensure smooth running of events and activities

  • Assist in facilities management for maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment for all venue users

Requirements

  • Holder of HKDSE or above with relevant experience in customer services is an advantage

Internship Programme

Are you interested in gaining experience in the arts and creative industry? Over the years, Hong Kong Arts Centre has offered opportunities to local and overseas university students to gain an exciting and fulfilling experience through our internship and volunteer schemes. Our internship programme provides an excellent opportunity for their students to explore their potential through hands-on work experience, gaining exposure to the different aspects in the operation of the Hong Kong Arts Centre. The learning experience is a stepping stone to a promising future in arts administration and arts education.

Are you art lovers? Do you have time to spare? Join the Hong Kong Arts Centre as a volunteer! Our volunteers come from a variety backgrounds, helping with events and programmes and providing administrative support to the Hong Kong Arts Centre. They are also trained to give docent tours. Volunteers can participate in various types of service, depending on their knowledge, interest and availability. No previous experience is required. Let us know your availability.

  • Holder of the Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card;
  • Fluent in at least one of the following languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, English; and
