As we step into the 2020s, we are aware that the space we inhabit extends beyond what we know. Has film evolved beyond reflecting reality to actively shaping it? Has film become a tool for envisioning the future? Is it merely a creative medium, or has it subtly shaped humanity’s collective understanding of time and the possibilities ahead?
Henceforth, the key lies within us.

The prefix “Ab-,” derived from Latin, signifies “away from” or “against”—a break from established norms or perceptions. It suggests a rejection of traditional notions of time, space, and reality.

This work rearms and reinterprets my past ideas, using shifts in medium and form to explore the tension between the absurdity of reality and the brutality of fiction. To deepen my investigation into the relationship between time and media, I make use of three 1970s 8mm film projectors alongside three ultrasonic directional speakers. Audiences are invited to explore their own perspectives and think about how sound, visuals and time interact.

Artist Bio
kChung (Chau Kin Chung) is an accomplished music composer, sound designer and media artist. With a BFA in Theatre and Entertainment Arts, specializing in Sound Technology (Music Production) at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. During his studies, he has received the HKSAR Government Scholarships (2019-2023) and the Louis Koo Outstanding Creative Achievement Awards (2023). He specializes in exploring the relationship and possibilities between audio and visuals, with a focus on creating electronic and atmospheric music.
His multimedia art installation works include Project Playaround <Tangled Obsessions> and BFA graduation project <Ab__>, which was presented at the 0//2023 Public Visuals Tokyo. He also participated as an exhibiting artist at the Prague Quadrennial in both 2019 and 2023, creating unique art installations that integrate dance and visuals.
In addition to his work in multimedia art, he is actively involved in music production for pop music, films, TV Dramas and commercials.
