Hong Kong comics artists collaborate with overseas publishers, and local comic works will be released in France, Ukraine, Italy, the United States, and more!

Hong Kong Arts Centre (Comix Home Base), with the sponsorship of Create Hong Kong of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, partnered with Hong Kong Comics and Animation Federation to participate in the 50th edition of Angoulême International Comics Festival in January this year. 15 original mid/full-length comic books published in 1st HK Comics Support Programme were showcased aboard, along with local comics artists of 7 titles attending the Festival in person for cultural exchange. They also met with publishers from all over the world and now successfully bring Hong Kong comics broad.

Following the success of the participation of this prestigious international comics festival, the participating artists described the exchange as ‘profoundly amazing’. The participating comics artists will share their fruitful and rewarding experience in this trip, presenting Hong Kong audience with a revealing glimpse into this Festival and the international comics market.

 

   First Artist Sharing   

Artists: Mimi SZETO, Man TSANG, WAH KEE

Angoulême International Comics Festival is one of the top three comics festivals in the world. To many comics artists, joining this Festival is always on their bucket lists. Three comics artists will tell what impressed them most during this ‘profoundly amazing’ visit, and how they got inspired.

 

   Second Artist Sharing   

Artists: Chi-kit KWONG, Linus LIU, Pen SO

Licensing collaboration on comic book adaptation and transmedia has been highlighted at the Festival in which the International Rights and Licensing Market dedicated to business discussions is set up. Three artists will share their very first experience in meeting with overseas publishers for licensing, so as to explore the business potential of Hong Kong comics in the European and American publishing market.
