Great Hong Kong Movies

Co-presented by the Hong Kong Arts Centre and One Cool Film Production Limited, “Great Hong Kong Movies” showcases works handpicked by up-and-coming Hong Kong filmmakers and industry workers on and behind the screen. The programme includes previews of most anticipated films by emerging Hong Kong filmmakers and classics that can be savoured again on the big screen. The mission of presenting a good selection of films is to inspire younger generations to experience and appreciate Hong Kong cinema.

Great Hong Kong Movies: Alan and Eric Between Hello and Goodbye

Alan & Eric were best friends. The two kids shared a common dream, a dream of the great pirates and the big blue. But one summer night changed Eric's life. That night Eric left Hong Kong with his father to a distant and exotic place called " The Gold Mountain", not to conquer the world, but to run away from gambling debts. Sixteen years later, Eric retuned to Hong Kong and the two childhood friends reunited. Eric was still a dreamer, now equipped with big plans to fulfil them. The less ambitious Alan was waiting tables, but soon turned to singing professionally strengthen by the inspiration from his always supportive friend. The sky seemed to be bright and clear until they both met, and simultaneously fell in love with, Olive. The Chinese senorita from Central America was the girl in their pirates' dreams. Olive's pick was Alan. Eric's passion was then buried and kept a secret in his heart of hearts. Years later, while Alan was in San Francisco for a World tour Concert, Olive appeared. The reunion took Alan to the city hospital where Eric was awaiting death from a terminal disease…
