Open Dance receiving the 2013 Hong Kong Dance award "Outstanding Project in Community Dance"

Here is another good news to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Hong Kong Arts Centre in addition to the GOLD AWARD presented at International Design Awards, Los Angeles, USA  for our agnès b. CINEMA.  Partnered with renowned dancer-choreographer Daniel Yeung in eight free dance programmes, our project receives the 2013 Hong Kong Dance Award “Outstanding Project in Community Dance” for the inspiring and innovative ideas presented in unconventional performance spots at the Hong Kong Arts Centre.

“Open Dance" is a series co-presented by the Hong Kong Arts Centre and Daniel Yeung.   Coupled with the use of interactive visual and audio installations, the programmes set up a new, extensive and dynamic stage to introduce a wide variety of dance genres from jazz, Argentinean tango, latin, tap to hip-hop. Reinvigorating a sense of communal space through the transformative power of dance, numerous venues and spaces within the Hong Kong Arts Centre are offered to inspire the many interactive energies of dance and to expand imaginative repertoire of dancers.  It has been a success in bringing new forms of dance to the general public and engaging with new audiences.

The HKAC Executive Director Connie Lam remarked, “We are glad to work with Daniel to reach out to the community to build and expand arts audience through dance. By making dance more accessible to the public, this series makes possible for individuals from different social and cultural backgrounds to enjoy dance performances. We are also happy that Hong Kong Arts Centre can be used as the platform to incubate young talents by encouraging them to dance without boundaries."
