“Hong Kong Female and Cheongsam” Talk cum “Making a Simple Braided Button” Workshop

Course Features

Comprising a talk and a workshop, this course is the first in the series featuring Cheongsam.  Stay tuned to the monthly courses on this topic to be launched later on.
A talk on “Hong Kong Female and Cheongsam“ will be conducted by Ms. Amy Wong, period antique pieces* will be shown for reference and discussions.  Following that, Madame Po will host a workshop and demonstrate the making of a flower button in the "traditional straight knotted button"style.  Participants will then have a chance to try their hands at making a simple form of braided button.
* Antique Cheongsam to be provided by "Cheongsam  Connect"

Tutor: Ms. Amy Wong
Ms. Amy Wong is a practicing fashion designer.  She has academic training in art history and comparative literature while clothing design is self-taught.

Tutor: Madame Po Ming-wah
Madame Po Ming-wah has been producing traditional flower buttons for four decades and is one of the very few surviving experts in this craft in Hong Kong.
