School Facilities Assistant (Full Time) (FT-SFA)


Job Duties

  • Setting up the classrooms in accordance with the teaching requirements provided by supervisor or lecturers.
  • Supporting the equipment rental and classroom booking by students.
  • Assisting in school operations e.g. maintain the cleanliness of the classrooms; ensuring the classrooms are being locked when not in use; updating and posting notices/memos on student notice boards; managing printing requests from students, etc.

Senior Operations Manager


Job Duties

  • Supervise HKAC operations in the areas of facility/property management and venue operations.
  • Formulate and implement the strategy for the venue hire and leasing of the building.
  • Oversee and monitor the performance of the facility/property management contractors to ensure the service level agreement (SLA) is met.
  • Manage and supervisor all-round leasing and tenancy matters. Negotiate lease agreements and contracts with tenants.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with tenants and foster collaboration among HKAC and tenants. Regular review and meet with tenants to enhance the tenant experience.
  • Lead front-of-house operations including liaising with internal and external hirers to provide smooth and efficient operations. Manage venue hire team to ensure the delivery of excellent services to hirers.
  • Manage the technical teams in supporting the needs of hirers/users of the venues.
  • Be conversant with competitor offers and regularly benchmark HKAC pricing.
  • Ensure safety and comfort for performances and events in venues.
  • Supervise the art shop team to ensure smooth operations of in-house and online shop.
  • Review products, creating themes and promotions communicated in both in-house and through online shop.
  • Review and refine internal policies and provide constructive suggestions to improve the efficiency of the operations.

Receptionist / Administrative Assistant (1-year Renewable Contract)


Job Duties

  • Perform general reception duties including but not limited to attending and transferring incoming telephone calls and enquiries, greeting visitors and guests with a pleasant manner, etc.

Technical Manager, Venues


Job Duties

  • Lead the theatre technical team and oversee the work of the in house and freelance technicians to ensure the smooth running of the technical department in supporting the hirers/users.
  • Liaise and manage various internal and external parties in order to fulfil and support the hirers’ requirement of the technical system and equipment needed.
  • Oversee all aspects of stage and event operations in stage, cinema and multi-purpose areas.
  • Participate in technical meeting with hirers to define the user requirements of the technical support.
  • Liaise with hirers/users regarding the ad hoc services and facilities support during the show time if needed.
  • Manage the resources and manpower and liaise with outsourcing partners to ensure sufficient technicians are hired. 
  • Ensure the health and safety within the venues are met according to the regulations.
  • Conduct research and benchmark on the requirements of theatre facilities and technical system equipment to serve future needs.
  • Responsible for the department’s budget. 
  • Deliver staff training to ensure up-to-date theatre technology and industry best practice is being enforced. 
  • Plan and execute the maintenance plan of all in house audio, lighting, theatrical & stage systems/equipment to ensure the equipment can meet the safely standard and regulations as well as the efficiency of the operations
  • Maintain a record of inspections, documentation and maintenance records for all equipment and keep an up-to-date registry for audit purpose.

Requirements

  • 8 years or above relevant experience in technical and productions support for theatre and/or cinema operations and/or stage operations, with minimum 3 years of experience at management level. 
  • Independent and highly-organized, customer-oriented and self-motivated.  
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment under a tight schedule.
  • Experience and knowledge in drawing skills and techniques such as AutoCAD.
  • Good command of both English and Cantonese.

Chief Theatre Technician


Job Duties

  • Perform all aspects of stage and event operations in stage and multi-purpose areas with a view of ensuring the set-up, rigging, rehearsal, performance and strike-out are carried out smoothly and safely.
  • Provide the technical and operational support to stage and theatre performance to be held at HKAC and ensure all technical requirements are fulfilled in a safe and professional manner.
  • Participate in supervising the teams and delivering staff training to ensure the up-to-date theatre technology and industry best practice is being enforced. 
  • Assist in monitoring freelancer and supervise the progress of setup and dismantling of the events if needed.
  • Contribute in the maintenance plan including but not limited to review the life cycle and infrastructure of the technical equipment regularly, scheduling the preventive maintenance etc. 
  • Required to work on rostering and shift duty.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years or above relevant experience in technical and productions support for theatre, cinema operations and stage operations.
  • Experience in sizable performing arts venues or companies at supervisory level will be an added advantage. 
  • Independent and highly-organized.  
  • Able to guide and lead the technicians and freelancer.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Experience in AutoCAD drawing is preferred.
  • Good English and Cantonese.

Lecturer / Subject Coordinator (Sculpture, Part-time 75% time), Hong Kong Art School


Job Duties

  • Teach and assess students at all levels and supervise their project works.
  • Act as subject coordinator in development, design and delivery of modules at various levels. Support curriculum and new course development if needed. Ensure the assessments methods, learning materials and methods of delivery do meet the learning objectives.

Programme Director


Job Duties

This position will report directly to the Executive Director of Hong Kong Arts Centre and work closely with the Arts Programming Committee.

  • Work with Executive Director to craft and develop long-term and short-term strategies that are aligned with the direction and mission of HKAC.
  • Lead the entire Programme Department. Plan and develop annual programmes that support the development objectives and growth of HKAC.
  • Ensure intellectual and curatorial rigour across programmes and build synergy across different art forms.
  • Form partnerships and lead funding applications with government departments and commercial entities. Manage the development of high-quality proposals.
  • Manage programme budget and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Lead the planning of the programme portfolio in order to strengthen the image of HKAC. 
  • Contribute to the development of internal and external communication materials to highlight impactful stories.
  • Coordinate research in programme context such as analysis of art trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with different teams to drive the development of the Programme Department.
  • Liaise, network and work with arts practitioners, both local and overseas.
  • Participate in regular committee meetings including the preparation of presentations and take follow-up actions. 
  • Work as part of the senior leadership team to shape and deliver the mission of HKAC and provide visible leadership extending across the wider organization.

Requirements

  • University Degree in related disciplines.
  • Sound and demonstrable knowledge in contemporary art. Experience in curation will be an advantage.
  • Excellent leadership skills and able to lead a team of around 20 staff.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation.

Internship Programme

Are you interested in gaining experience in the arts and creative industry? Over the years, Hong Kong Arts Centre has offered opportunities to local and overseas university students to gain an exciting and fulfilling experience through our internship and volunteer schemes. Our internship programme provides an excellent opportunity for their students to explore their potential through hands-on work experience, gaining exposure to the different aspects in the operation of the Hong Kong Arts Centre. The learning experience is a stepping stone to a promising future in arts administration and arts education.

Are you art lovers? Do you have time to spare? Join the Hong Kong Arts Centre as a volunteer! Our volunteers come from a variety backgrounds, helping with events and programmes and providing administrative support to the Hong Kong Arts Centre. They are also trained to give docent tours. Volunteers can participate in various types of service, depending on their knowledge, interest and availability. No previous experience is required. Let us know your availability.
