Programme Officer (Visual arts) (FULL-TIME) [Ref No.: PO-VA (FT)]


Job Duties

  • Plan and implement exhibitions, develop and promote art programmes in the community
  • Handle arts administration duties, ensure the efficient and effective implementation of the art programmes
  • Engage in exhibition research, provide curatorial support
  • Coordinate with exhibition design, technical plan and logistics
  • Assist with production, maintenance and monitoring the budget plan
  • Organise educational programmes such as talks, meet-the-artist sessions, workshops and tours
  • Manage editorial and production of the publication, oversee the design process
  • Assist with marketing plans, events and audience development activities
  • Work closely with other departments of the Hong Kong Arts Centre
  • Prepare programmes information for reports and website updates
  • Document related programmes and information for archive
  • Carry out other ad-hoc duties or projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Degree in visual arts, media, art history or related field preferred
  • Strong interest and knowledge in arts
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
  • Demonstrate fluency in Microsoft Office products
  • Familiarity with design programmes preferred (Adobe creative suite, video editing)
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and work well under pressure
  • Ability to solve problems creatively, work independently and excel in a high performance, fast-paced team-oriented culture.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a professional manner, exercise good judgment, and make decisions in accordance with established policies
  • Flexible to work on evenings and weekends as required
  • At least two years of relevant experience

Assistant Producer (Performing Art) [Ref No. : AP-PA]


Job Duties

To work in the Performing Art team under Programming Department by –

  1. Working closely with the Programme Manager in the implementation of the cross-disciplinary art production in realms of public art, performance art, performing art and other disciplines;
  1. Researching, liaising and coordinating programme such as Artist-In-Residence and Work-In-Progress laboratory and showcase at HKAC including hosting oversea artists (Theatre/Dance/Music) and assisting in oversea exchange production;
  1. Supporting the Programme Manager in curating artists for Art Factory, a cross-disciplinary art learning platform for adult at HKAC;
  1. As Executive Producer in producing Performative Installation, Performance cum Lecture Series, Outdoor Public Art Happenings, Immersive Theatre;
  2. Key project will be Via North Point (opening in September 2021) and Cultural Masseur Festival (opening in April 2022).

Requirements

  1. Tertiary education in Arts Management/Entrepreneurship/Social Science/Cultural Studies is preferable;
  2. Interest in harnessing the power of art and cultivate cross-disciplinary practices.
  3. Highly-motivated individual with start-up mindset in Art projects
  4. Enjoy the process of brainstorming ideas, conceptualization to action
  5. Willing to work flexible hours and in a team dynamic environment.

PERIOD: 1 year contract

Part-time Counsellor


Job Duties

  • To provide counselling services to students
  • To conduct talks or workshops with therapeutic themes or activities that can address relevant counselling needs to students and / or teachers
  • To liaise with allied professionals on the management and the follow-up actions of individual cases and prepare case reports as and when necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably Master’s degree in psychology, counselling psychology, social work or equivalent
  • Preferably with front-line working experience in relevant fields
  • Training or experience in educational setting and/or art-related environment will be a definite advantage

The appointment will take the form of standing offer agreement, and is to be renewed subject to mutual agreements and operational needs.

Job Duties

  • Provide ushering and front of house service in theatres, assist in house rules and regulations enforcement
  • Perform effective communication with patrons, guests and venue hirers
  • Assist in crowd control to ensure smooth running of events and activities

  • Assist in facilities management for maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment for all venue users

Requirements

  • Holder of HKDSE or above with relevant experience in customer services is an advantage
  • Pleasant, energetic, extrovert and willing to help customers
  • Good communication skills with proficiency in spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin
  • Required to work on weekdays’ evenings as well as in weekends and public holidays
  • Immediate availability is preferred

Over the years, Hong Kong Arts Centre has offered opportunities to local and overseas university students to gain an exciting and fulfilling experience through our internship and volunteer schemes. Our internship programme provides an excellent opportunity for their students to explore their potential through hands-on work experience, gaining exposure to the different aspects in the operation of the Hong Kong Arts Centre. The learning experience is a stepping stone to a promising future in arts administration and arts education.

Are you art lovers? Do you have time to spare? Join the Hong Kong Arts Centre as a volunteer! Our volunteers come from a variety backgrounds, helping with events and programmes and providing administrative support to the Hong Kong Arts Centre. They are also trained to give docent tours. Volunteers can participate in various types of service, depending on their knowledge, interest and availability. No previous experience is required. Let us know your availability.
