Hong Kong Arts Centre Open Day 2024 presents a full day of diverse art journey. Film is a universal language that bridges the gaps between cultures and races.
The 29th ifva Festival Special Screening Event will present four outstanding short films created by the ethnic minority directors participating in the All About Us Programme, including ‘BOJU’, ‘The Bat Tree’, ‘Blurry to Me’ and ‘Rowdy Inside’. Through moving images, let’s listen to the diverse voices in our society and form connections with the life stories of different communities.

With the rapid technological advancements and the impact of the pandemic, there have been significant changes in many people’s lives in recent years. As we adapt to this new reality, let’s explore the future alongside the new generation of creators. The Hong Kong Arts Centre will collaborate with the past awardees of the CREATORS FOR TOMORROW Scheme to present the group exhibition ‘To Morrow and Beyond’, showcasing how they navigate the new normal of the art world through artistic creation and research. In the exhibition, audiences will grasp the latest trends in local art and witness the growth and transformation of talented artists. |

An effective movie poster not only bears the emotions and messages associated with the story, but also sparks audiences' interest and imagination. This exhibition features a collection of original movie posters and illustration originals created by the renowned Hong Kong artist Yuen Tai Yung. Each piece has a story in it, from the design of drawing, composition, to typesetting. While appreciating the precious works, the audiences can savour the masterpieces of the artist and Hong Kong movies to the full. |

4. Olivia Tsang’s solo photography exhibition, A WORD |

Capture the moment with a click, preserve the ‘words’ within the photo, and discover the transformative nature of language. ‘A WORD’ is the debut solo exhibition of the renowned fashion and lifestyle photographer Olivia Tsang. By showcasing a series of captivating photography works, the exhibition tells the unique stories that lie behind the faces of various Hong Kong celebrities. ‘There is someone in everyone’s mind who leaves marks and residues that shape their love in the future, even when the person is no longer there. Presented by Cultural Masseur and directed by Yan Pat To, the immersive theatre ‘Goddess’ is adapted from the novel written by iphoneman, a local writer known for his relatable urban romance. It allows the audience to travel through time and space in the Hong Kong Arts Centre while immersing themselves in the delicacy and excitement of the work. Throughout the journey, you will experience the mixed feelings created by love, feel the pain and wounds that connect people and city, see the suffering in fate and witness the constant changes in life. |

6. Digital Shape of Ceramics — Exhibition at The Gallery of Hong Kong Art School

When 3D printing meets ceramics, what kind of artistic sparks will be ignited? The exhibition ‘Digital Shape of Ceramics’ will showcase three-dimensional printed ceramic artworks created by sixteen talented alumni and teaching staff from the Hong Kong Art School. Visitors will have the opportunity to appreciate how artists utilise 3D printing technology to create intricate designs with greater ease and precision, bringing to life forms that were previously challenging to produce. In this digital age, let’s explore the future development and potential of ceramics! |

The graceful shadows of trees dance and twirl, entwining on the windows. We cordially invite you to roam the city, collect fallen leaves, and join the artist Mandy Ma Wing Man in creating a landscape that reimagines urban flora and fauna. Good music can help us forget our worries and relax our minds. During the afternoon session of the Open House, two groups of buskers, Cheri and Crescendo, will sing an array of pop songs in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, adding a lively atmosphere to the annual event. The 48th Hong Kong International Film HKIFF48 aims to bring exceptional experiences to all film lovers.
