Community Museum Series - 'Move on to TKT' Exhibition
‘What if the city had emotions and memories, just like people?’
'RE: Tai Kok Tsui' presents the community museum exhibition 'Move on to TKT' in collaboration with our programme collaborator, Playback Concept. This exhibition continues the 'RE: move on' concept, creatively transforming old items through metalwork design to reflect the ongoing changes in the Tai Kok Tsui community.
Led by Chan Po Fung, the Playback Concept team has created ten works for this exhibition. These pieces draw inspiration from local characters, such as the printing old shop that has stood in Tai Kok Tsui for half a century, the second-generation hardware store owner that has witnessed the changes of time, and the Shui Sheung Yan, who transitioned from life on boats to the transportation industry before establishing a family-run fast-food business. The exhibition also features the photographer capturing the essence of the community, the guardian dog that connects residents, and various stories from the neighbourhood surrounding the coastline of Tai Kok Tsui. Together, these narratives paint a vivid picture of the area's evolution, offering unique perspectives on the changes within the community.
The community museum series 'Move on to TKT' embraces the past through stories, using transformed objects as symbols of life stages, accompanying their owners into new chapters. The completed works will be displayed from 26 October to 31 December at One Bedford Place, Tai Kok Tsui, with free admission. After the exhibition, the pieces will move to the 'Corner:' space for continued public viewing.
After the exhibition period, all artworks will be returned to the story owners.
