5th Collectors’ Contemporary Collaboration

Collectors’ Contemporary Collaboration creates a platform for public viewing of private contemporary art collections, presents the multiple perspectives of contemporary art collecting and the development of art scene in di­fferent regions, and encourages dialogues among art lovers. The 5th edition focuses on the private collections in China, through the distinctive characteristics of collections, archives and collectors, the exhibition explores the active and diverse approaches of contemporary art and collections in China.

In the last 40 years, mainland China has gone through drastic transformations in economy and society. Its contemporary art’s development has undergone unexpected stages while the contemporary art collecting scene has grown into intricate practices. LING Min, curator of the exhibition, along with the major collectors of different periods, unravel the complexity with visions and collections of the renowned collectors GUAN Yi, LU Xun, ZHENG Hao, and archives on Chinese contemporary art development from prominent scholars and curators FEI Dawai and GAO Minglu, to observe the development trajectory of collectors, collections and concepts in the Chinese contemporary art scene.
