Digital Shape of Ceramics — Satellite Exhibition & Workshop

Venue: Room 512 & 5/F, Youth Square (238 Chai Wan Road, Chai Wan)
Date: 2024.02.15 - 2024.03.08
Time: Satellite Exhibition: 10am – 6pm (Closed on Sundays & Public Hollidays) / Workshop: 2pm – 3:30pm

Description
This satellite exhibition aims to showcase the process of exploring the combination of 3D printing and ceramics. Three-dimensional printing can be independently used as a method of ceramics making, helping ceramicists break through past limitations to create fine mesh structures or print virtual models into physical forms. Some forms of works that were difficult to produce in the past can now be achieved more easily through 3D printing. Let us take a glimpse of the development and potential of ceramic art in the digital age.

Hong Kong Art School alumni-artist Silvester Mok will lead workshops to introduce the concepts of 3D clay printing, its techniques and interdisciplinary creativity. Participants will understand the process of converting digital 3D models into physical objects using 3D printing technology, propose design changes based on existing 3D models on the spot, and print out a unique prototype. Participants’ designs will be fired into ceramics and may be used for other exhibition purposes in the future. Participants may also opt to collect their work at a fee before a designated date (tentatively late April).
