Director Lou Yi-an is a Taiwanese writer and director devoted to both the cinema and television industry. He is known for his dark humour, character-driven intricate story lines. Director Lou always puts great concerns regarding the topics of local culture, racial issues, and social problems caused by class differences and generation gaps. The two features selected are WHITE LIES, BLACK LIES and GODDAMNED ASURA which GODDAMNED ASURA will vie for the Best International Feature film honour at the 95th Academy Awards next year.

Mannequin heads are lined up on the shelves one next to another; they have different colours and hairstyles, and yet all the faces are cold and nonchalant. This is Rainbow Salon. The body of the shop owner’s wife is found in the basement with her throat cut open. The owner is the prime suspect, and soon he disappears. A journalist who is following the case finds that the owner has fled with his first love. As the journalist attempts to unveil the truth, another murder is dig up from the past and suspected to have been related to the salon case. How are the two murders related to each other? And what are the relationships between those involved? Who is telling the truth if each of them speaks only for himself?

On his 18th birthday, Jan Wen shoots randomly at the crowds in a night market for unknown reasons. The tragic incident causes a strong impact on the lives of his family and friends, the victims and the witnesses. However, if there was a chance for them to make different choices, would the tragedy still happen? Will it be a different outcome if they all changed their behaviour at the crucial moment?
