Hong Kong Arts Centre (Comix Home Base) and Hong Kong International Airport once again join hands to bring local artists' work to the public on the international platform!

Comix Home Base has invited Chivas Leung and Nic Ho to created an animation short 'Welcome HOME'. Their collaborative work is now welcoming all hongkongers and overseas guests in Hong Kong International Airport!

AboutWelcome HOME

In recent years, many people have left Hong Kong and moved overseas for various reasons, resulting in separation from their families and friends. The concept of ‘home’ has become blurred, as one can have several homes, and family members are scattered in different places. During the past two years of the pandemic, countless people longed to see their families but were unable to return home, with airport becoming a place of numerous farewells. As the pandemic finally comes to an end, returning to Home Kong after a long absence and seeing important people again, what kind of emotions will that bring? After all, home is where your loved ones are.

About Chivas LEUNG

Graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2018. Sometimes drawing, sometimes painting, sometimes printmaking, sometimes making comics, and sometimes creating zines, but always based on Chivas’s true story. The irreversible nature of life prompts Chivas to vividly recall past memories. She sees art-making as a ritual to complete memories, creating imaginary scenes to retrieve the missing pieces and commemorate all those times she had.

About Hong Kong Arts Centre

Art for Passion, Art for Life, Art for All.

Since 1977, the Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) has been a platform for nurturing and supporting artists, and infusing art into everyday life. Its unique arts and educational programmes aim to make the arts accessible for all. The HKAC believes in the transformational power of art for people from all walks of life. Established more than four decades ago, the HKAC bring art to the people of Hong Kong – by presenting programmes for visual arts, performing arts, moving images and media arts, comics and animation. Other areas also cover arts education, conferences, festivals, public art and community projects, all done with the vision and mission of engaging and inspiring creativity in the Hong Kong community.

In 2000, HKAC founded its educational arm, Hong Kong Art School (HKAS). The HKAS provides award-bearing programmes to nurture artists and art practitioners, as well as short enrichment courses for the general public. The HKAC aspires to engage everyone in the community to become an active participant in the arts – as an enthusiast, an artist or a patron.

Let's continue to embrace 'Art for Passion, Art for Life, Art for All', and share the inspiration.
