Curated by the Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) with the funding support of the HKAC Bee,  The creative arts learning spaceOut Of The Cubeinvites everyone to our Centre this summer to PLAY, to LEARN, and to CREATE through art!

The long term arts education programme 【Out Of The Cube】is a creative arts learning space offering audiences participatory learning experiences including crafts, reading, exploration, visual arts activities and more. Various combinations of physical and online workshops with innovative education kits are available to all walks of audiences based on their learning needs. 

【Out Of The Cube】was named with the intention to lead audiences to THINK OUT of the CUBE, and invited everyone to visit our Centre to PLAY, to LEARN, and to CREATE. Our target audiences include family and kids, teenagers, retirees, audiences with special needs, ethnic minorities and other non-Chinese speakers.

Let’s learn more together than alone. We provide a co-learning space where the community learns, connects, and grows together. We invite the general public, schools and various organizations to join us. Together in this space, we strive to make arts accessible to everyone regardless of their background, language, race, and gender and make arts accessible for everyone.

 

Online learning experience

🌈Windmill Workshop - Explore Around with Your Five Senses🌈

What does wind taste like? What is the colour of happiness? Life seems misty and blurry under the pandemic. Slowly we forget how to live in the presence. This summer, participants of【Windmill Workshop - Explore Around with Your Five Senses】will make use of their imagination and creativity💭 through the medium of colours🎨 to re-discover the environment with their five senses 👀👂🏻and learn to express love and gratitude with words 💬and action to their loved ones, and discover the best in life🌬️

Learning Goals:

  • Aware and explore our surroundings with our five senses
  • Express love and gratitude in words and action in a positive way
  • Enhance creativity and stimulate imagination through windmill making

25 June 2022 (Sat) 2pm-3pm or 3:30pm - 4:30pm

24 or 31 July or 7 August 2022 (Sunday) 11:30am - 12:30pm

🤲 Texture Card Game Workshop👋🏻

To touch art is to touch the mind💌, to touch the mind is to touch a life — J. David Arnol

Texture is one of the most fundamental and practical aspects of art. The usage of texture would influence art in both form and content. The education kit of 【Texture Card Game】 provides participants with multi-sensory experiences to feel different materials, learn different textures, and use the knowledge they acquired to create their own artwork👩🏻‍🎨.

Learning outcomes:

  • Learn to understand arts and express oneself in ways more than visual by having multisensory experience
  • Incite participants’ creativity through making arts themselves
  •  Cultivate participants’ art appreciation ability by learning different textures and materials
📆Session: 24 or 31 July or 7 August 2022 (Sunday) 2:00pm - 3:00pm
 

Format: Online via Zoom

Number of participants: 16 pairs parent-child

Target audience: parent-child ( a child between the ages of 5 and 10 accompanied with a parent)

Language: Cantonese supplemented by English

Price: Free admission (A deposit of HK$80 required. The total amount will be refunded (not including service charge) if the whole workshop is completed. Participants can choose to donate the deposit to the Hong Kong Arts Centre.)
