The programme “Art X Sound, Mind and Matter: Bathing in Frequencies” features contemporary artist and experimental musician Shane Aspegren, who specializes in experimenting between the relationship of human body and soundwave, leading to meditative and other states of inner-exploration. The programme begins with online artist presentation, which the artist shares how his unique approach to the traditional group sound bath is influenced by his multifaceted background as a contemporary artist and experimental musician, as well as through his longtime holistic practices of yoga and meditation. Via 3 short videos, audiences can also learn more about scientific theories behind his creative works, and have a taste of his unique approach to the traditional sound bath.

Join us on Saturday 29 August, as Shane guides us through a meditative sound experience. While we adapt with the times, shifting away from the physical into an online format, Shane will take the opportunity to shift away from the body vibration of his live sessions, towards a format specifically designed for headphone listening. Together, we will further explore and discuss sound and its possibilities for both art and therapy. Followed by a Chill-chat Salon, Shane will have an in-depth discussion of his creative works and his special approach to invoke physical and brain waves responses with Dr. Lam Yun Wah from Department of Chemistry and Dr. Ryszard Auksztulewicz from Department of Neuroscience at the City University of Hong Kong, all together with conceptual artist Ms. Wong Kit Yi. The whole session will be conducted via Zoom in English. Audiences are invited to interact with the artist through the online Q&A session.
