The HKAC was a pioneer in co-presenting the first Hong Kong International Deaf Film Festival, which was also the first international deaf film festival in Asia, showcasing both local and international deaf film productions. The Hong Kong International Deaf Film Festival is an important public platform for the deaf across the world to present their worldview from their own perspective and enable the hearing to understand and explore deaf culture. The festival served to open up unexplored territory in the world of film festivals in Hong Kong. It enriched our society with genuine representations of different social groups and assisted in the development of an inclusive society, where different ideas and cultures could be expressed and understood.
