3-day-2-night Orientation Camp
Date: 8 – 10 November 2013 (Fri – Sun)
Venue: Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp
This camp aims to offer orientation to participants from different background as well as introduce the some concepts of video arts through a series of specially designed collaborative activities. 50 participants were divided into 6 groups They not only acquired some basic creative and filming skills and knowledge from 6 teaching artists who are the professional local filmmakers but also enjoyed the process of team building with the aid of social workers from the Life Workshop and student mentors from universities.
During the camp, they were encouraged to be creative. For example, in the learning activity of "A Chair is NOT a Chair", participants had to be creative and act well in order to make "A Chair is NOT Chair", "A broom is NOT a broom" and "A bottle of water is NOT a bottle of water" become TRUE! Some participants made a chair become a guitar, some made a broom as a microphone-stand and some made a bottle of water as a mobile phone. In the practical exercise of "The Copycat", participants had to imitate 3 Idiots, a Bollywood film, that shoot a similar story using shots with different angles and scenes. They tried the taste of being directors, scriptwriters, actors and cameramen in this exercise.
