Exhibition Introduction
As the fourth exhibition of Comix Pulse, The Emerging Voices of Comics 101 and Illustration & IP 101: Participants Works Exhibition brings together works from participants of Hong Kong Arts Centre Short Course ‘Comics 101’ and ‘Illustration & IP 101’. The two courses were curated by Comix Home Base. They were led by renowned creators Little Cloud and Isatisse and took place in Fall 2025. The aspiring comics creators and illustration enthusiasts have come together to present their works developed under the guidance of tutors from the short courses. They have completed marvellous pictorial work from sketch, and now ready to share their fruit of creativity to the public for the first time.
The exhibited works are diverse in theme, reflecting each participants’ unique point of view. Spanning from everyday office life to elders’ oral histories, to original characters and worlds. Amidst all these works, many pieces are even participants’ first completed comics creation.
Comix Pulse offers not only a platform for emerging talent, but also an entry point for audiences to encounter a whole new generation of visual storytellers, and to glimpse the possibilities their future work may hold.

Inspired by personal burnout amid Hong Kong’s hustle culture, this illustration traces a journey that from chaotic striving to peaceful mind. It serves as a reminder to the exhausted that true happiness comes from within, not from external achievements. Joy is found by letting go and embracing the calm that follows.

Metamorphosis (Comics in Excerpted Pages)
At birth, human nature is good.
At birth, insect nature is evil.
Hearts and minds bewitched, indulging in unrestrained passions and desires, until essence is exhausted, leading to death.
The corpse transforms, the insect reborn.
Reborn as a pupa, and as a butterfly ultimately.

Loki LAU
Teachers' Daily Life
This comics depicts three contrasting teachers: the strict Miss Chu, the relaxed Wong Sir, and the exhausted Miss Lau. It reveals the authentic and humorous campus ecosystem through the stark contrasts in their classrooms and marking workloads.

Recess Happiness
Two classmates who are friends are playing Peaceful War during recess in primary school. One of them suddenly breaks the rules with an unexpected move—but who will win in the end? This story is based on the classic Hong Kong children’s game; hopefully it is not part of your own childhood memories, and any resemblance to real events or persons is purely coincidental.

Billy HO
For many years, I dedicated myself as a salaryman, working tirelessly but feeling exhausted. Eventually, a quiet voice revealed what I had been avoiding: I no longer wanted to keep pushing myself like this. My journey into the second half of life started rebelliously. I decided to slow down and enrolled in the Master’s programme at the City University of Hong Kong to nurture my mind. During the day, I juggle studying and working. At times, I write biographies and create illustrations that remind me I am still capable of wonder.
Iris SU
Creator of Susukiteeth, and I work in the arts industry. I enjoy all kinds of cartoon characters and love reading illustration books. My favourite works include Adventure Times and The Solitary Gourmet. My guiding principle in life is to constantly trying out new things. That’s why I want to develop more stories around the character I created back in elementary school, so more people can see it. Another interest of mine is entrepreneurship. In the past, I sold Japanese stationery, and this time I want to take on the challenge of building a cartoon brand.
James WONG
As a teenager, I read Hong Kong comics like Ma Wing-shing's Chinese Heroes and Storm Riders, and Taiwanese comics like Zheng Wen's Assassin's Chronicles. The coloured illustrations inside were wonderful and a feast for the eyes. Now in middle age, I've picked up my paintbrush again, but unfortunately, I still lack the ability to create original IPs.
Katia WONG
Katia's interest in picture books began when she discovered Saela et le Botaniste in an old bookstore. Inspired by this story, her artwork often incorporates plant motifs while conceptualising little wonder of the city to explore different possibilities for picture book creation.

Tiffany SO
Hellooo, I’m Tiffany So! I’m based in Hong Kong and currently work in the tech industry, though I’m an artist at heart. My ultimate dream is to tell stories through visuals. I love exploring different creative outlets, but I’m especially drawn to visual arts for its unique power to engage people and connect us beyond language.

Christy YEUNG
A typical Hong Kong office worker who doodles for fun in spare time, enjoy drawing the people, random objects, and small dramas encountered in everyday life.
James WONG
When one reaches mid-life, it is time to seriously consider how to spend the rest of one’s life. In my childhood, I read local comics such as Chinese Heroes, though its publication schedule was often irregular, and I also enjoyed Japanese titles like Cobra and Fist of the North Star. This is my first attempt at creating comics, and I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Little Cloud for her guidance throughout the course.
Koobey YEUNG
My name is Koo. Just like in my self-portrait, I laugh easily and bad at controlling expressions. I am both an art amateur and an office worker, who loves reading comics and also enjoys drawing freely. Recently, I was deeply shaken by the manga Orb: On the Movements of the Earth and Blue Period, which rekindled my curiosity about making comics. In order to learn more on what comics are all about, I signed up the 101 Comics Short Course course to experience it for myself.
Loki LAU
With over eight years of primary teaching experience, I am currently a substitute teacher who loves art. I have received Ani-Territory 02 Drawing Competition (Open Group Runner-up). With years of background in anime ACG fan art, this is my debut in original comics. I aim to apply my illustration skills to document the bittersweet reality of school life beyond the fandom world.
Yan-yee YIP
A human who loves to draw, and is hoping to finish this short story in this life, what a bad example!
