Art from Nature

Art and nature have always been inseparable, and artists have drawn inspiration from nature since ancient times. Artists use various media to document and express the beauty of nature. However, is the beauty of nature just blooming flowers, lush trees, and green meadows?

KOKO is an artist who resides in Kam Tin. Her speciality is using nature as a creative medium. She makes good use of any materials from nature, whether it is a piece of dry wood, insects, plant roots, or beehives. KOKO believes all of them are usable materials to continue the life of nature through art.

In three consecutive workshops, KOKO will lead participants to discover beauty and creativity in nature. Whether it is a dry leaf or a broken branch, everything that is found in nature could become a source of art and creation in KOKO's workshop.

file

KOKO received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Coventry University in the UK and her Master of Arts in Fine Arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has been connected to nature since childhood and pays attention to the relationship between the land and humans. She likes to use nature as the theme of her artworks and create dialogue with nature, and to feel and to look deeply into life. “Life is Art, Art is Life” is her philosophy. In order to connect herself with nature and return to natural life, she established KOKO ART FARM in 2013. Transforming nature into art through the sounds and colours from the fields, KOKO uses her artworks to show the beauty of the world.

KOKO’s artworks have been exhibited in Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, Cyberport, Youth Square, The Peninsula hotel, Art Museum of the Chinese University of Hong KOng, Hong Kong Arts Centre, Fringe Club, National Memorial Hall in Taipei, and Dokzaal in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
