All About Us 2010
Capturing the World, Imagine my Vision
"All About Us 2010" was held between January 2010 and April 2011, to explore the art of short film making and issues of ethnic integration. The event featured several experienced video artists instructing South Asian youths on (the whole process of video production from scripting writing to film editing) video filming and production techniques, and offered students a chance to tell their own stories using videos.
Objectives
"All About Us -- Video Production Workshop 2009/2010" is devoted to:
- Foster exchange and mutual appreciation between the local Chinese and EM community in Hong Kong
- Provide the local EM community a platform to express and discover themselves; to reflect and understand their community with a more critical mindset
- Empower the local EM younger generations and offer them a chance to develop their career in media creation
Creative Camps & Film Production
Seminars
Date: 11am to 1pm on 4th Saturdays in January 2010 (Starting from 9th January)
Venue: Yuen Long City Hall & South Asian Happy Teens Club in Yuen Long
Lecturers explored arts with South Asian teenagers and they learnt how to speak their mind through creative moving images. These seminars mainly focus on film theories; during the workshop students will be divided into groups practicing the exercises delivered during the workshop.
Workshops
The workshop is divided into 2 sections each day, 2 hours Lecture in the morning and 4 hours workshop in the afternoon. All About Us 2010 has invited filmmaker Kit HUNG and art director Hong CHEUNG to share the art of moving images and show the participants techniques of filming and editing. Step by step, participants learnt how to make their own video works which show the most wonderful colours of their lives.
Students are required form a group of maximum 5 persons, and submit a video of 5-20 mins at the end of the course. Assignment will be given to them during the course, to make sure a proper development of their video project.
