Canadian graphic novelist and animator

Guy Delisle is a Canadian scriptwriter, illustrator and colorist, born in 1966 in Quebec City. From an early age, he developed a passion for comics, drawing inspiration from the Franco-Belgian classics.
His career in animation spans ten years, during which he works with Folimage in Valence and teaches animation in La Réunion. In 1994, he took part in the Le Moine et le Poisson project with Michaël Dudok de Wit, which won an award at the Annecy Festival. Delisle went on to work on several productions, including Papyrus, Les Contes du chat perché, and La Mouche after Lewis Trondheim.
His experience as an animation supervisor in China inspired his first autobiographical album, Shenzhen (2000), a humorous travel diary. He also published Pyongyang in 2002, an account of his stay in North Korea, offering a glimpse into this isolated country.
In 2007, Chroniques birmanes recounts a year spent in Rangoon with his wife, an employee of Médecins sans frontières. His flagship work, Chroniques de Jérusalem (Jerusalem Chronicles), was published in 2011 and tells the story of a year spent living in Israel. This album won him the Fauve d'Or for best album at the Angoulême Festival in 2012 and sold 180,000 copies, contributing to his international success.
In 2013, Delisle returned to humorous comics with Le Guide du mauvais père, the first volume of which sold over 50,000 copies. His latest book, Pour une fraction de seconde : La vie mouvementée d'Eadweard Muybridge was published in October 2024.
His work has been translated into 13 languages, making him a recognised figure in contemporary comics.

Comix Home Base
Comics and animation are important local pop culture and artistic creations. Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) has been dedicated to planning and organising diverse and unique activities to promote the arts and culture of comics and animation to the local community and abroad.
Since 2006, HKAC curated Comix Home Base project (CHB), and has been working closely with comics artists, animators, industry practitioners and various government departments to promote local works. Over 800 ani-com-related events are hosted, such as exhibitions, talks, workshops, performances, publications, screenings, public arts, etc.
In recent years, Comix Home Base has continued to proactively orchestrate cross-media collaborations and look for crossovers between comics and different media like public art, movie, dance, intangible cultural heritage, martial arts etc., expanding the creative space for comix. Outside Hong Kong, China, the footprints of Comix Home Base can be found overseas in France, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Japan, Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Korea, Russia, Indonesia and Portugal etc. This has facilitated the involvement of numerous Hong Kong comics artists in international collaboration projects. Also, local comics have been successfully published in different foreign versions in European countries and the United States, increasing the international recognition of local comics and animation artists.
Comix Home Base is fully committed to creating a platform for the art of Hong Kong anime and comics to flourish and keep elevating comics that are 'made in Hong Kong' to the global stage with stakeholders.
