Project Summary
The exhibition ping -t overHeart appropriates network diagnostic syntax to probe human endurance in a hyper-connected age. In computing, the command ping -t initiates an infinite "echo request," relentlessly demanding a response until forcibly stopped. Here, the target is the "overHeart"—a neologism fusing the mechanical failures of overclocking with the biological reality of emotional exhaustion. It symbolizes a core pushed beyond its operational limits, inevitably leading to systemic friction and burnout.
Tung Wing-hong develops kinetic installations that map the friction between the mechanical and the organic. Since earning his MFA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014, Tung has cultivated a focused practice that blends new media, mechanical devices, and found objects to explore the intersections of cybernetic systems and human intimacy. Tung’s consistent approach has earned critical acclaim, most notably the Award for Young Artist (Media Arts) by Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 2024, and UOB Golden Garden Installation Art Award 2015. His works are featured in institutional platforms including the Hong Kong Palace Museum (2025), the Hong Kong Museum of Art (2024) and the Hong Kong-Macau Visual Art Biennale (2022).
Curatorial
Project Summary
Some Shreds: A Songless Terrain is a cross-disciplinary curatorial and research initiative that interweaves historical architectural archives with contemporary musical practice (musicking). Focusing on the historical spaces and cultural contexts of Tong Lau (tenement buildings, also known as Veranda-style buildings in Guangzhou and Shophouses in Southeast Asia), the project employs a method of "comparative reading" to conceptualize these structures as experimental sites for cultural narrative and sonic performance, thereby unearthing pluralistic cultural expressions and constructing a novel field of dialogue between the historical and the contemporary.
Biography
Ho Ying-yi is currently an arts writer, architectural conservation researcher, and curator. Her heritage-centric curatorial series commenced in 2023 with “Some Shreds: Happening at the edge” in Athens, followed by the cross-media work “Some Shreds: Here means something” in 2024, and the site-specific vernacular architecture showcase "(before) after party" in 2026, all of which closely examine local histories and cultural heritage. She takes curating cross-disciplinary work as a creative process of anchoring the lived realities of the present.

Project Summary
Ghost Territories: Visual Memory and Ritual Architecture in Hong Kong is a visual and spatial research project examining how temporary festivals and ritual practices operate as systems of memory in the city. Focusing on the Hungry Ghost Festival and related Taoist-Buddhist practices such as joss paper burning, ghost offerings, Earth God worship, and Villain Hitting, the project studies how ritual architecture produces community identity through materials, structures, colors, patterns, graphic systems, and temporary occupation of public space.
Bryan Honting Wong is the co-founder of HONMI, a practice working across art, architecture, and cultural programming. His work explores cultural disappearance and urban memory through the lens of hauntology, examining how “traces” continue to shape East Asian cities such as Hong Kong and Seoul. Rather than treating precarity and stability as opposites, he considers them as interdependent conditions through which collective identities are continually negotiated and reconfigured. Working across installations, interiors, and architecture, he is interested in how art and design can make these conditions visible. His recent research focuses on Hong Kong’s Hungry Ghost Festivals, examining how their visual and spatial designs preserve alternative histories and operate as a system in which memories are cyclically reconstructed. He holds an SMArchS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in Landscape Studies from the University of Hong Kong.
