Creative Video Camp
Date: 30 Sept, 5pm – 2 Oct 2011, 5pm (Fri-Sun)
Venue: Youth Square, Chai Wan
The 3-day-2-night Camp aims to offer orientation to participants, who are mostly from Pakistani and Indian, and some Thai and Filipino, as well as introduction to film arts through a series of specially designed collaborative exercises. It was well received by the participants who not only managed to acquire basic creative and filming skills and knowledge from the 9 professional local filmmakers but also enjoyed the process of team-building with the aid of social workers from the Life Workshop. During the Camp, they were encouraged to explore themselves as well as community. For example, a session called “Video Letter” let the teenager speak individually to themselves through camera in a private room and the video letter was later on sent to them after the Video Production Workshop as a resonance of their whole learning process.
Outing exercises also helped them reach out to nearby area to meet local people through techniques such as video interview. Participants were divided into 6 groups and each group was led by a teaching artist who followed their group video work during the following workshop.
Video Production Workshop

The lectures hosted by various teaching artists, offered brief introduction to production planning, film aesthetics and camera work, storytelling and sound design.
From October to December 2011, each group of participants produced a video work with the aid of teaching artists. Starting from zero, they were facilitated to do production planning, video shooting, editing and post-production.
