Multiverse of Art Summer Camp: Comics Comms
Comics are a beloved medium for storytelling that extends into other creative forms such as film, animation and merchandise. In this course taught by a popular children/teenager comic artist from Hong Kong, students will use comics to articulate their thoughts and imaginative worlds. It will enable teenagers to express themselves through hand-drawing art with its comprehensive look at comic elements. The tutor will demonstrate professional techniques, breaking down the process of creating comics step by step. Students will explore a range of styles and techniques, receiving personal guidance along the way. With no limits on themes or styles, this course encourages everyone to let their imagination run wild and find the drawing method that suits them best.

Tutor
Keung Chi Kit
A very popular children/ teenager comics artists in Hong Kong. Keung published multiple comics with CO-CO! magazine after winning the Comics New Talent Award by Rightman Comics in 1999. His works are mostly playful and humorous with heartwarming moments, making them a favourite with children and teenagers across generations. His Samba series was serialised for over a decade and further developed into the science education series “Samba STEM”. The protagonist Samba is well known locally, making him a part of Tsim Sha Tsui’s Hong Kong Avenue of Comics Star and Wan Chai’s Ani-Com Park @ Harbour’FUN’ together with other classic Hong Kong comics characters. His latest comics work of PANDOLA is supported by the 1st HK Comics Support Programme.
Keung has worked with numerous large organisations over the years, including Oxfam's Little Citizens of the World educational picture book project ‘The Best Inventions’, the Hong Kong Science Museum education programme ‘Gear Up–Nano World’, Audi and DCH Holdings Limited ‘The Memory of Tomorrow’ group exhibition, and Hong Kong Tramways ‘Ding! Ding! Comix Tram’.
Keung has held exhibitions in France and Shanghai. His works have been acknowledged internationally as well. In 2008, he was awarded the Best Children’s Comics Award in the 4th Golden Dragon Award Original Animation & Comic Contest. And in 2024, Keung’s ‘Life of a Painting’ made him the first Hong Kong artist to become a finalist at the International Silent Book Contest.
Apart from creative production, Keung also teaches and has held comics courses in collaboration with the Buildings Department, Hong Kong Public Libraries and Hong Kong Film Archive.
