ALL ABOUT US 2023/24

Date: 2024.08.03 - 2024.12.15
All About Us 2023/24
ALL ABOUT US continues to provide a creative media education programme for ethnic minority youths in Hong Kong. It includes an Orientation Day, 2-day-1-night Creative Camp, film production and a Screening Day. Through a series of filming activities, participants will learn from hands-on experience – write screenplays, scout locations, sketch storyboards, try their hands at working with a film set, edit videos and sounds, and discover how to tell their own story through moving images. Participants will learn from veteran film-makers and professional video artists to produce their own short videos. Selected videos will be screened publicly at the ALL ABOUT US film festival!

【ALL ABOUT US】2 Days 1 Night Creative Camp
Date: 2024.08.03 - 2024.08.04
Venue: Jockey Club Yuen Long Recreation Centre

The two-day ALL ABOUT US Creative Camp, held on August 3rd and 4th, has successfully concluded! We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and express our deep gratitude to the teaching artists for their dedicated guidance in various workshops. These teaching artists include Yee-mei Wong, who taught scriptwriting and storytelling skills, Kitty Yeung and Nicole Chu, who taught film production, and Charlie Fung, who taught film post-production and editing. Their mentorship provided the participants with comprehensive and rich knowledge in filmmaking during the creative camp.

The creative camp not only offered learning opportunities but also ignited the creativity and collaborative spirit among the participants. They actively engaged in the filming process and created four short films with different themes.

【ALL ABOUT US】Young Filmmaker Mentoring Programme 2024 - Talents are on set and cameras are now rolling!
Date: From September to November 2024
Venue: Filming in Hong Kong

The Young Filmmaker Mentoring Programme 2024 recruitment closed in August and 3 potential Ethnic Minority mentees had been selected by their professional mentors!

Young director Ahmina Santiago Zaheer is pairing with her mentor Oliver Chan Siu Kuen
Ahmina was born and raised in Hong Kong. As a child of mix immigrant parents, she grew up struggling a lot with my identity. She always feels like she is so different from her peers yet they share so much in common. Through this she found her love for art, whether it’s in a form of music, painting or movies, she knows that art always find a way to communicate. And she would love to share her love for film with those who do too.

The second young director Rizwan Rahman is going to work with his mentor Ray Lau Kok Rui
Rizwan is a Tamil filmmaker born and raised in Hong Kong. From a young age, he has always been drawn to films, rather than things like sports or other hobbies. His main hobbies when he was young was drawing and writing. Once he became 12, Rizwan got his first camera and access to an editing software, which he used to make short films. He kept making them and uploading them on his YouTube channel until he got into university, by which point he shifted more towards commercial work and music videos. However, it didn’t go as planned. Neither did his degree. So, he got back into films more seriously and have been working on making short films and collaborating with other creatives till now. Currently, he is doing post-production for his short film project Wood House, which he hopes to screen very soon.

And the third young director Zeed is pairing with his mentor Eric Tsang Hing Weng
Zeed is a Hong Kong born with a penchant for heartfelt storytelling, has led a life split between two vibrant cultures: Hong Kong and India. His fascination with the lives of ordinary people, often overlooked, fuelled his passion for writing and cinema during his university years. Despite initially pursuing a pharmaceutical degree, Zeed's unwavering commitment to storytelling led him to indie film productions in Hong Kong, where he wears multiple hats as a director, writer, and actor.

In next few months, they are going to produce a short film guided by their mentor for all shooting activities, from script writing to crew recruitment, scouting, casting, directing, and post-production.
